I think I did quite well on the interviewing speech. I learned a lot about preparing for an interview. I learned you really have to do your research when it comes to an interview. You will have to know yourself and know the company as well. Preparing was a very important step during the interviewing process. I also learn a lot about conducting an interview. While conducting an interview, you must know what you what to know or hear from the interviewee. You must ask the question in an exact way to get the exact response you are looking for. During my interview, I made good eye contact. I was very focus on the interviewer to let him know that I was very serious and focused when it came to that particular job. During my next interview, I must work on relating what I can do to what I can bring to the job. I had no problem stating what I can bring to the table. I had a problem making what I can bring to the table relevant to the job itself.
ReplyDeleteThe two hardest things for me about this interview speech was writing a good resume/ cover letter that truly expressed my interest in getting the job that I was applying for and using a cheerful voice when speaking to my interviewer. I suppose this is because of my limited work experience I do not have that many transferable skills besides volunteer work. Now that I know how to write a better resume I can understate my lack of work experience and emphasize on things like academic achievement to make me more appealing on an application. The second improvement that I need to work on for when I actually do get interviewed for a job would be my voice/ tone. My voice was too serious and I need to smile more so that I can seem to be more approachable. It seems that one of my biggest problems with presentations has to be having emotion in my voice when I speak. Besides these two improvements, however, I think that overall I did a pretty good job. I believe that as long as I am conscientious of these two things will be I will definitely be better the next time I am in an interview.
ReplyDeleteThis was an interesting speech to do because this speech will be done more than once. The next time i perform it it will be the real thing. From doing this speech I learned the hard work that is necessary to create a resume, be interviewed and the interviewee. I learned I need to be more active not only on the Rider campus, but everywhere. Listening to the others getting interviewed and the credentials they were saying really blew me away. This showed me it is a competition and if I keep my ok resume I will not get the job because there are others dying to get the spot as well and with better credibility. Also being the interviewer was a tough too. To prepare questions so enough information was learned about the interviewee is a difficult task and maybe useful for the future. One thing I need to work on in my interview is my resume. I may not get the interview if I have a weak resume. All in all it was a good experience and will defiantly help me get a job.
ReplyDeleteWell for starters, I would say that the interview was one of my better speeches of the semester. I felt much more relaxed than usual probably because I have been on interviews before and I was able to relate it more to the job force then any of the other interviews I had been in before. This interview was one of my better ones because I was more focused and prepared then the ones before. As the interviewer, I was able to get a good perspective of what a real employer looks for in an employee. While I was the one being interviewed, I was able to feel what it would be like if I were to actually have been in the actual situation of trying to get a job with a very highly recognized tax repair company. After going through this process, I believe I will be much more efficient when it comes to being interviewed and after I become part of the company and possibly need to interview people, I will be able to know what to look for in a person.

ReplyDeleteDuring this mock Interview I learned that one thing that you must be good at is thinking on your feet. This is something that we learned during our elevator speeches during the summer but you don’t know how important it truly is until your asked a question and you can’t fugue out how to answer it. During this mock interview I believe that I could have done a lot better, by one taking a moment to think before I answered the question and two choosing my words properly and spoke in a voice that was understandable. I believe that I was rambling and that I did not answer the questions to my best of my ability. I learned that while conducting an interview it is keen to keep eyes contact and that the point of the interview is to sell yourself and set yourself apart for all of the other people who are applying for the job. I know that during the interview that I gave great back up information too many of the questions ask and that I had nice posture.
ReplyDeleteOne of the things I learned about preparing for an interview is to have a good resume. Having a resume that an employer could read is very important. You also have to know what the job position requires. Being able to answer questions that are related to the position shows your interest and how much you really want this job. You have to keep in mind that in an interview you are judged by your looks and performance. When conducting an interview I’ve learned that you have to be careful what you ask the interviewee. You have only a limited amount of questions to ask and you have to find out if this person is the best fit for the job. You have to make sure your question does not confuse the other person. You also have to know a lot about the position and what qualifications are needed in order to succeed in the job. I believe that I did pretty well in my interview. I answered each question in depth and included details and examples of the qualities I said I had. I think my tone of voice needs to improve for my next interview. It was too soft; I needed to have a firm voice that carried a conversational tone.
ReplyDeleteI think I did well on the interview. I learnt that doing research about the company is very important and also stating the two obvious, dressing professionally and preparing for the interview are also very crucial for the proper execution of a good interview. I had some positives and some negatives I want to improve on in the future. Some of the positives were: I broke the ice with the use of small talk (I asked him about his car); I had done my research about the company so I was comfortable when I was being interviewed, I also practiced with my speech buddies so I was not nervous up there; I also dressed professionally and was confident. I had good eye contact as well. Some of the things I want to improve for the future are my posture when I sat, I was leaning forward and that is not how you supposed to sit in such a way for an interview. I should do a better job at selling myself during the interview and I should not talk while walking away from the interviewer. I think the interview was an overall success putting in mind that it the first interview had ever made. And I believe that if I make the changes I mentioned above, I would have success in the future.
ReplyDeleteMy performance in my opinion was pretty good in the interview. I had really strong answers that would really impress interviewers. I learned many things while practicing for this interview. I learned that first you have to go into the interview with confidence and also, well dressed. If you are nervous you won’t do well at all, plus if you are nervous your palms will be sweaty and, that is not a good first impression when you shake the interviewer’s hand. Second is that when you sit down you should always have good pasture to show respect. You should always let the interviewer finish asking the question before you answer it, don’t cut him/her off. Lastly always ask a question at the end, and thank the interviewer for his/her time. I feel like my strengths were answering the questions strongly and confident. One of my weaknesses was that I have to work on is that I have to stop repeating myself, that will change for my next interview. I can now be confident to go to an interview, and now what to expect.
ReplyDeleteIn my opinion, my job interview was extremely well. I feel as if I rock at job interviews only because of the lessons learned in this speech course. I have landed three out of three job interviews all throughout the tips I have learned. I have learned a lot from the fake interview we did in class. Working with Denise I learned that you have to always plan for the unexpected questions. Denise mixed are interview up with a lot of loaded questions. She was very demanding with her answers and a tough looking boss if I do say so myself. However, the fact that I have not been turned down by a job yet, and have a very conversational style of speaking, I found a lot of confidence within myself to proceed. I did forget to have small talk prior to the interview and kind of remained neutral. Given another shot at the interview I would of loved to become more aggressive completely assuring my position to get hired. The fact that I was neutral and a tad hesitant I find myself doubting that I would of attained the job.
ReplyDeleteI think I did well on my interview but I had several problems as well. I could have had more eye contact and smiled often. Most of the time I gave off a very serious look. I should have showed more enthusiasm with my facial expressions. I also could have done better with the writing of my resume and went to career services for advice. I do think that me and Joe's interview was one of the best in the class. We were very creative when it came to the trophy ice breaker and when it came to closing the interview well instead of just running away afterwards. I believe that the skills, I have learned in this Com 104s course, really helped me and made it easier to speak to others when it comes to certain situations such as job interviews. I believe that if I smiled more and showed more enthusiasm, I would have done a perfect interview.
