  1. What kept my attention during this presentation was just about everything about him. From his projection to his eye contact, he just was well prepared and it showed. He's obviously done this speech numerous times. He seemed very passionate about his topic. That also kept people's attention. His delivery was on point. He presented his topic well, and summed it up for everyone to get want he wanted to get obtain when it was over. His content was also good. He said things to keep his audience interested throughout the whole presentation, including his story.
To incorporate his speech to adapt to the audience, the speaker did several things. He used an appropriate story, he came dressed for the part, and he used examples that the audience looks up to. the story was a great idea. It really stressed the importance of wanting to be successful. I felt moved just hearing the story, not even the speech. The way he dressed was a way for the students to accept him more visually. He didn't come with a suit and tie because he wasn't doing business. He was giving students my age a speech. The examples he used were great. He used people that he knew the kids looked up to, such as Be'yonce and 50 cent. The students look to them as role models, and he used that to his advantage.
I was very motivated. When it came to looking how to be successful, he opened my eyes to new light. I never looked at being successful that hard. That's why he was successful in persuading me to look at becoming successful like that. When in doubt I will remember this video. When I start to doubt myself or even begin to give up, this video will change that mindset. To define personal success would be accomplishing a task you've worked very hard for. It wasn't an over night thing. To complete something you really put your all in!

  3. The first thing I immediately noticed about the speaker is his tone and volume of his voice. He has a deep voice and projects it so that everyone can hear clearly. It made the content of his speech seep into me. I felt the passion he had for his topic. It is moving but at the same time intimidating. The speaker also does not just stand in front of everybody and give his speech. He adds meaning and force to his speech by walking around using hands gestures as well as looking around at everybody in the audience. He interacted with the audience when he used a story as his intro and included one of the guys from the audience in his story.
In addition his appearance made the audience pay attention to him. He was dressed casual but at the same times a little professional. This helped him seem more approachable since his audience was made up of college students. The speaker also knew his audience, he used examples that the audience could relate to. For example, when he was saying that you have to want to be successful more than you ‘want to party, be cool, and sleep’ the young audience is able to relate.
He also used modern day celebrity that his young audience looked up to such as Beyonce, 50 Cent, and Emmet Smith. He even shared how all of those celebrities knew what you have to sacrifice in order to truly be successful, such as having no sleep, no food, and no rest. His passion for trying to make students understand the true meaning about being successful made his speech attention-grabbing and memorable. He sounded as if he was giving a very strong pep talk, almost like he wanted to keep pushing the audience on the way of being successful. It was very motivational; made you want to get up and focus on truly doing all you can to be successful and let nothing stand in your way.

  4. What grabbed my attention the most in this presentation was his passion for what he was speaking about. He was clearly was well prepared and used the room well. You could hear in his voice how much success for students mean to him. Also his content was appropriate for his audience because it was relatable. He used examples such as Beyonce and 50 cent to show that celebrities today never stop working to maintain their success. The most motivating thing to me was when he said you need to want success as much as you want to breathe. It is true that you should put your education and success above everything else. I really liked his passion and his ability to relate to his audience.

  5. The man in this video caught my attention soon as he started talking. He was very strong in his delivery and his audience seemed to be very interested in what he was saying. During his presentation he was passionate and knew exactly what he was discussing. He also used points of emphasis. When he was making a strong point to get everybody to engage in what he was saying he pounded his fist on his hand. He did not ramble on and on about the topic instead he spoke about the main point of his speech. He understood who his audience was and spoke to them in their language.
The speaker incorporated stories in his speech to engage his audience about the topic. He used the story about the boy wanting to be successful. In the story the boy wanted help to become successful and the guy demonstrated an example to show him how to become successful. His main point said that when you want to breathe as much as you want to become successful then you will become successful. He also said that there may be nights you do not go to sleep but it’s ok because then you won’t miss your opportunity of being someone.
This speech definitely motivated me to want to become more successful. I know that sometimes I can be a lazy person and I procrastinate a lot but I realize that if I want to be something in life there are certain things I need to give and go through. There may be nights that I will not get enough sleep or even sleep but I have to suck it up and move on. He gave us examples from famous people such as Beyonce and 50 Cent saying that they had to work hard to get to where they are and stay there. There are some nights they forget to eat because they’re so focused on becoming successful.

  6. The speaker was enthusiastic and caught my attention from the very beginning. I could relate to his appearance by the clothes he was wearing because me and him dress similarly. His hand gestures and his posture showed me that he had great confidence and enthusiasm. The tone and pitch of his voice showed me that he had intense passion for what he was talking about. The story in the beginning was entertaining to me and I just wanted to hear more. The examples he gave were all appealing to me and I could pertain to them because they are musicians and athletes I watch and listen to today. He incorporated these people as examples because his audience was young adults. Even the language he used was awesome.
He talked as if he was one of the students using words that the young adults in his audience would use. It was definitely motivating for me. In high school I could slack off and still get good grades. I can't do that in college. I am going to have to work as hard as I can if I want to be successful. I am going to have to sacrifice my social life, my food and even my sleep. This speaker made me realize all of this in a five minute speech.

  7. The way the speaker was so passionate about his speech really kept my attention. He used a loud voice and kept his tone the same throughout the presentation. He was very smooth with his words and confident with what he was saying. I think his delivery, as well as the relatable content, was what kept everyone’s focus. He used great examples like Beyonce, 50-Cent, and Emmit Smith because many young adults look up to them in order to show the meaning of success in celebrities and how hard you have to work to get there. He also asked a few questions so the audience could interact. He even used a student in the audience to demonstrate what the Guru did so they could get a better picture in their head. He spoke as if he was one of the members of the audience, he didn’t use many big words or said things that the audience would have a hard time understanding. I found this presentation exceptionally motivating. I could feel the passion of his words deep inside of me and made me want to never give up. The two things he said that hit me the hardest were, “don’t cry to give up, cry to keep going” and “don’t go to sleep until you succeed”. To reach personal success, those quotes can really help. To fully succeed is not going to be easy, but you cannot back down until you get to where you want to be.

  8. In this video the speaker is trying to engage his audience’s attention, with his interaction, his eye contact, and his voice projection. These are a few of the things that kept my; attention he was moving around and you could see that he was passionate about his topic. It was not just something he was reading off a paper. He was able to stay on topic and was speaking to his audience not at them. When he begins his speech he starts off with a story and he presents it with energy which allows his audience to stay awake and understand what his purpose of the speech is.
When he begins to incorporate celebrities and their own reason on why they have success it makes you think to yourself if they can do it I can do it as well. Such as his example about 50 Cent the speaker states that while in between his movie making 50 Cent is at the studio working on the sound track. During this time people ask 50 Cent when do you sleep and his reply is that “sleep is for those people who are broke”. This statement brings to the audience the visualization that “wow if I want to make money I need to work nonstop to get to where 50 Cent is”. He also repeats the fact that when you get to the point to where you want to be successful just as much as you want to breathe you will then be successful.
The speaker has motivated me to want to do more than just the minimal to get by; he even makes me feel as if I just don’t want success as much as I want to breathe. He has put success in prospective to me. I now understand that if you want something you need to go above and beyond for it. You get what you put out of it and if you don’t put enough you won’t get that success that you want to acquire. I believe that personal success is exactly what it says personally you have to know your own goals and what you want. Therefore you want to be successful it needs to be something that you have passion for and want to be the best in your field.

  9. What kept my attention during the piece the most was the content, the things he actually said. The speaker opens up with a story about a man who wants nothing but success but doesn’t know how to go about getting it. Through this he makes a parallel to the youth in the room/ youth in general and from there my attention was grabbed immediately. The speaker tailors his speech to be relatable to the people in the room by using his hands and even a member of the audience to get his point across. What he also uses to his advantage is his booming voice and his confidence/ his personality to come through the message and make his presentation that much more resonating.
What the speaker incorporates in his speech are real-life stories of people that have gained success, people that we idolize, and use them to make the point of fighting for what you want. Some of the people he uses in his speech to get his point of success across include 50 Cent and Beyonce. In my opinion, when people incorporate people and subjects that an audience can relate to or appreciate, it makes the speaker come off as more creditable and more likeable.
The speech was very motivating. The speaker, from beginning to end, sounded like he honestly believed in every word that he said and so I did as well. The presentation left me energized and happy to have heard it.

  10. During the presentation the guy’s enthusiasm and emphasis about the subject of being successful kept me paying attention throughout the video. He used projection and passion in his voice, eye contact and lots of preparation for the presentation. You were able to tell that he has done this speech many times because he did not look at the flashcards. He was very energetic and kept involving the crowd, for instance he held the students’ head down as if the guru was drowning the man. The delivery of the story of the successful guru and the young man who craved success affected the presentation because the moral of the story is that you must achieve and desire success. We must put everything aside in order to achieve our dreams. The motivation for me was the stories and facts about people like 50 Cent, Beyonce, and Emmitt Smith. I like how he used real people and real situations. People must make your own success rather than wait for it.

  11. What had kept my attention about the presentation was everything......as far as his energy, the tone of his voice, and the message of what he was saying.
The speaker used superstars such as Beyonce and 50 Cent, people that we see as role models and look up to. He explains how bad they want success by saying they wont goto sleep. And the more time they wasted, the more money they lost
The speech was motivating because it showed me how a person should really strive for success instead of just saying they want it because its common and not really taking it serously.
Personal Success is having everything you want in life - physically mentally & emotionally

  12. My attention was maintained by the speaker’s voice projection. He spoke with compassion and diction while maintaining energy and focus. His anecdote in the beginning made me want to learn more about his speech, but his relation and use of the audience kept my attention.
He appealed to his audience by avoiding gender bias. He incorporated questions to keep the audiences’ attention. The audiences’ attention was captured by involving them into his speech. The speaker also did not allow his personal thoughts to overshadow his researched information. He related success to a human beings necessity’s such as eating and sleeping to further convey the message that to be successful you might go without the basic human necessities.
The speech was motivating to me when the speaker said “Most of you won’t be successful because when you’re studying and you get tired you quit.” It made me realize that I must continue to succeed no matter how tired or stressed I may be. “Don’t cry to give up, cry to keep going, don’t cry to quit” makes me realize that I cannot let my emotions restrict my want to succeed. It makes me realize I have to want success more than any monetary award.

  13. This is a great video. It shows one way of getting the audience’s attention by simply using your voice. In the video the man projects his voice in a way that keeps his audience focused. If he were to speak in a monotone voice his audience would not be able to pay attention or stay awake. With this speaker he uses a strong voice, with just the right amount of volume and he is not stiff when he specks. He moves his hands; whole body when we walked around and at one point grabs a student’s head during the man in the lake story. In general he is animated during his speech. All these points say the delivery was impactful during this speech.
The content was also an important to his speech. The facts that he put in worked perfectly because they were on topic and he kept it modern so we knew who he was referring to. For example he talked about Beyonce, 50 cent and Emmitt Smith. If he had talked about three people we did not know it would not have not hit as close to home as those three did. That was a good way to relate the audience in and keep them interested in what he had to say.
I feel the speech was very motivating. From a person who loves to sleep he got me thinking about what I miss when I sleep late. This applies a lot to me now since I am in college. If I sleep late I may miss class, not be able to join a club or sport I wanted to or like the video said miss out on a great opportunity. My definition of personal success is being able to do what I love got a living with the person I love waiting for me when I get home. I plan on achieving this as soon as I graduate from Rider University.

  15. What kept my attention through the presentation is the fact that the speaker used examples and he told stories that I could relate to. Also when someone is speaking and their voice is loud and they speak in different tones it keeps the audiences more interested. The speaker made all his points clearly, elaborately and very quickly.
Throughout the entire speech the speaker incorporated examples from celebrities such as Beyonce, 50 Cent, and Emmit Smith. He talked about how Beyonce worked three days straight without food or sleep. Also, he talked about 50 cent, and how he made a soundtrack and filmed a movie and he never stopped to take a rest. He spoke of how Emmit Smith didn’t take a rest even after he won the super bowl.
The speech was very moving, and after I heard it I said to myself, “I really need to get it together.” The speech was motivational and it really got me thinking hard about my life and how different things could possibly be if I heard a speech like this when I was in high school not doing my work. I absolutely loved how he compared “success” to things we do every day such as breathing. I especially related to the speech when he started talking about how we fall asleep as soon as we get tires when we’re studying or doing work. As crazy as it seems I felt like the speaker was speaking directly to me the whole time he spoke. You can tell he’s been doing motivational speeches for a long time because of the way he captures the audience’s attention. Overall it was a wonderful speech and it has inspired me.

What grabbed my attention during his presentation was the fact that he used a story that related to me to start of the presentation. I said “oh this is interesting” and started paying attention. He also said “you guys have probably heard about this before” when he was referring to the story of the young man who wanted to make money. That made me pay more attention because I was asking myself “let’s see, have I heard about this before?”. Additionally, he was acting out a lot of the things he was saying. For example, when he was talking about the guru holding the young man’s head under water, he was actually holding down one of the student’s heads. Furthermore, he was asking the audience questions and making them feel involved. The speaker incorporated examples the audience can associate with and admire. When he used the examples of celebrities Beyonce and 50 Cent the audience I am sure bonded with him.
The speech definitely motivated me. One night I was doing homework and I was very tired and was about to go to sleep without finishing it, but what he said “you are already in pain, don’t cry to quit” popped in my head, as a results I was motivated to finish my work.

  17. The way the speaker presented himself with confidence kept my attention throughout his speech. He delivered the speech very well. He knew what he was talking about and knew how to present it to his audience in a way that they would understand it.

The speaker talked about his thirst for success. He told the audience about a story of a man and a guru on the beach. This caught everyone's attention. Yet the speaker had a purpose for this story. He not only wanted to catch their attention, but he also wanted to explain to the audience how bad you need to want success in order to get it.

He motivated me in many ways. He opened my eyes to what wanting success is all about. You don't have to just say you want success. You also have to give up important things in order to fulfill your goal. Personal success for me means to be well educated and have a good life. Having a home, family, and a job that I enjoy doing is my personal definition of success.

  18. Upon watching this speech, I was greatly influenced by him. I had found myself completely engaged with every word he was saying. The delivery of his speech had made me feel like I was in the room with him. Not only did he have the correct examples for the specific age group such as the reference to 50 cent, Beyonce, and Emmit Smith; he had pain within his voice. This is something that made his speech relate to the audience. It showed that he had the opportunity to experience it himself and wasn't just providing an allaby. The speaker approaches the audience with a rhetoric style of speech, making sure theres no doubt within their minds. A plus to his speech is the way he was dressed, it was in relation to our generation. Something that has motivated me since I was little has been a saying my football coach one told me. He had said all the time, " No excuses, just results!" this saying has always motivated me. To me, this means I am the only one responsible for my actions. Whether or not I want good results, depends on how hard I study.
